This is something that the children had in mind whilst watching this, spotting the links between the 2 stories. To support this work we were lucky enough to meet the wonderful Monika, to hear her story and make this short film. As a girl in wartime Germany, Monika lived through the bombing of Dresden and in this film, she recalls some of her experiences of this time. It’s amazing how similar Monika’s story is to that of Elizabeth, the young girl in the book. Over the past couple of months, Ali has been busy working with Year 6 children in 3 Devon Primary Schools to produce creative writing and artwork in response to Michael Morpugo’s book ‘An Elephant in the Garden.‘
