![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It has almost 70,000 reviews on goodreads!! I mean with "Twist Me" although it was fucked up, I still found it entertaining. I assumed with the popularity of Captive in the Dark it couldn’t be that bad or horrific. I don’t mean to insult people’s taste but what is the appeal of the book? Is it meant to be like a horror read? I’m just confused. I know it’s a “dark romance” but is this even a romance in any capacity? This girl is brutalized over and over again by the supposed hero? She’s chained up and left in the dark for long period of time? As a woman I’m just having a hard time reading this. I have this compulsion to finish every book I start but I’m genuinely questioning if I can finish it. So I thought this couldn’t be that bad.īut this book…I’m almost half way though it and I’ve stopped so many times because I can’t get through it. Although I initially found it hard to read I got into it eventually and actually ended up enjoying it. I knew their would likely be rape in it which made me a bit wary but I managed to read Twist Me by Anna Zaires which also had the kidnapping /non-con theme. I recently got into dark romance and Captive in the Dark by CJ Roberts was recommended a lot so I decided to read it. ![]()
